The bike's MX number plate, meanwhile, adds a cool style accent, as do the color scheme and cool graphics. About Mongoose
Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose has always been an innovator. From the company's initial cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to its current crop of BMX, mountain, and pavement bikes, the Mongoose name has been synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose builds specifically for riders, which is why the company's BMX designers aren't wasting time watching reruns on ESPN2. Instead, they're constantly testing their new designs at the park, on the track, and on the hill. This continuous experimentation is what drives Mongoose to cook up things like the Front Porch head tube, which lets you fine-tune the handling on Black Diamond series mountain bikes, or Freedrive suspension technology, which eliminates pedal bob and provides a super-efficient full suspension. Mongoose bikes don't just push the limits; they set new ones.

1Nice Bike - Bad Factory Packaging - Arrives Damaged
By K. Good
I would not recommend buying any Mongoose product, sight unseen, period. This is one of two different Mongoose bikes, purchased as a Christmas gifts, with both having the same issues. The bike arrived in the factory box, as Amazon indicates. Apparently, Mongoose has a rather amateurish concept of how to box anything so the contents don't shift around in transit, in this case, resulting in several scratches and paint chips in the brand new bike. Also, one of the ribbed grips was crushed/deformed due to the way it was strapped to the frame for shipping, and it is not rebounding back to the original shape. Nice Christmas gift for a grandchild, right? I contacted Mongoose "customer service" via their website e-mail link and fully explained the situation, requesting touch-up paint and a grip to just take care of the damage myself and avoid gift hassles. Their response? "Contact Amazon if there is shipping damage." I responded back that there was no "shipping damage" but internal damage due to their poor packaging of the bike components. Their response? Silence.

Stay away from Mongoose products unless you want to receive damaged merchandise, fresh out of undamaged factory packaging, due to their brain dead manner of internally "securing" the merchandise for shipping. Of course, it's always wonderful to get customer service from people who have no clue what that means.

BTW, I noted on their website an FAQ which included a Q/A addressing a question about obtaining touch-up paint for their bikes. The answer was "no, we don't supply touch up paint." They further advised going to a hobby store and trying to match the bike paint to plastic model paint. Nice response and product support.

3Nice Bike - Parts broken in shipment
By PurpleFly
This is a good bike for the price. Easy to assemble. Good components. However, when the reflector is broken, the rim is bent, and a tire is mangled, it makes it much more expensive to replace the parts. Bought as a gift, I couldn't return it and get another in time. It was listed as the last one as well. So, perhaps buying items such as this that get shipped is not a great idea. On the plus side, Amazon refunded me $20 when they heard of the damage. That is so much more convenient and cost-effective for both parties. Thanks Amazon for having excellent customer service.

4Sweet bike
By A. Noble
This is a sweet bike as in it's all girl and it's a very nice bike. I'm so not handy, but I did manage to put it together myself in a couple of hours. I will say that the color is not pink as the picture indicates. It's purple with bright pink accents. My daughter is enjoying her new wheels very much. It does not come with a basket/pouch or anything, so we had to purchase a water bottle holder separately from the local bike shop. I also like the 18" size, which is hard to find, but ideal for a first bike.
